The story so far…

Alex Brooke met Adam Hempenstall in 1996 whilst at University at Oxford Brookes in running student nights and other ventures. They continued their businesses after leaving University and setup several record labels and a music promotions business in London next door to Pete Waterman’s famous “Hit Factory” Vineyard studios in London Bridge. They toured their artists and club brands across Europe and had several successes with their label’s music being signed in multiple worldwide territories.

In 2003 Peppermint Events was formed as a joint venture with the Mint Group to deliver fresh event concepts and high quality bars at outdoor events. Peppermint brought the Mint Group owned party-brand Infernos to Henley Regatta and Cowes Week where it remained for 9 years. Peppermint and the Mint Group produced the first ever Lovebox festival on Clapham Common. In 2005, Jared Dalgamouni (then, the Finance Director of the Mint Group) joined Peppermint alongside Adam & Alex.

They continued their event production work at summer sports events and targeted the “boutique” festivals market in 2004 – identifying a gap in the festival bars market to deliver quality and choice. In 2008 Peppermint and the Mint Group parted amicability so they could focus on their venue businesses which includes Koko, Infernos and the Elk Bar.

Peppermint now services over 40 events annually – primarily providing bars and catering services to outdoor event and pours over 3 million pints every summer.  It is proud of its long-standing client relationships with the likes of Bestival, Secret Garden Party and Field Day to name but a few. Recent additions to the Peppermint client list include AEG Live and Live Nation.

Peppermint is celebrating its 10th year in 2013 – a business that firmly stands by its original business plan-promise of innovation, quality, accountability and a truly professional service.

THE TEAM

Alex Brooke, Director

Founded Peppermint alongside Adam Hempenstall in 2003, and has headed up operations since inception. Alex has been instrumental in the formulation of on the ground systems and working practices, ensuring that these are robust enough to deliver in the sometimes challenging environment. As a hands on member of the day to day team Alex has overall oversight of the on-the-ground operations during build & de-rig as well as on show days and working alongside Peppermint’s Project Managers, Event Managers and site crew to ensure the bar operations run smoothly and efficiently.

Adam Hempenstall, Director

Joint founder of the company with Alex Brooke. Over the past 10 years Adam has grown and developed the Peppermint staffing team from under 10 to over 10,000 active members of staff on an annual basis. Peppermint are now able to deploy over 2000 staff in one weekend, managed by a team of expert staffing managers and Peppermint has catchment across the whole of the UK – from Inverness to the Isle of Wight. Adam has overseen the development of bespoke online systems for recruiting and managing staff, including volunteer staff and building excellent staff loyalty with many managers and core staff returning year after year. Adam also oversees the brand Peppermint the marketing of the business as well as new business alongside Alex Brooke and the account managers.

Jared Dalgamouni, Finance Director

Jared joined Peppermint in 2005 as a partner and Finance Director. Jared cut his teeth in the world of finance at the acclaimed Berkley University in the USA and has brought his intimate knowledge of financial systems to the business, enabling Peppermint to become the envy of the festival bar business through its tight financial controls and unrivalled reporting systems. Jared heads up a team of stock controllers, cash managers and finance assistants each summer who ensure that the back end of Peppermint is the best in the business.
