FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS
Q: Do I need experience?
A: Experience is essential if you are applying for paid work with us. Normally, for front line work, such as Bar Supervisors or Cocktail/Flair Bartenders, we seek out exceptional candidates with a minimum of 1 year experience, but most of our employees have more experience than this. For event planning or senior management jobs, a minimum of 2 years of relevant experience is required with a proven track record of responsibility and success.
Q: If I work the weekend how much can I expect to get paid?
A: Your pay rate will depend on your position and level of experience.
Q: What do I do about tax?
A: We’ll handle this for you. You will be on our payroll so your PAYE and National Insurance will automatically deducted from your pay. If you are a FULL TIME student and you are working ONLY for us during your holiday you MAY be exempt from paying PAYE (up to your personal allowance). You will still pay National Insurance. Contact us (jobs@peppermintbars.co.uk) if you think this applies to you. When you first start work with us you must bring your P45 from your previous job. (If you don’t you will be placed on an emergency tax code which will mean you will pay more tax) If you have not been employed in the last 18 months - there is no need to provide a P45. If you are registered as self employed with the Inland Revenue you must bring the relevant documentation to prove this.
Q: If it’s a camping festival, where do I sleep?
A: We will organise space for you to camp in crew camping, but you will be expected to bring your own tents, equipment etc.
Q: How do I get to and from the events?
A: In most cases you will be expected to make your own way to and from the event, in some cases transport may be provided or subsidised. If you want to find out more or are really stuck for transport, then get visit the Peppermint Message Board for information on car shares and other related help.
