If you're looking for a cool, diverse, exciting and challenging job - then look no further.
Our staff are a flexible and diverse bunch combining a wealth of experience with charisma, enthusiasm, dedication and willing to turn their hand to anything.
No job at Peppermint Bars is "by the book" and you will certainly NEVER get bored. If you really want something more out of a job than just counting down the hours to the end of your shift - then you're one for us. Events and Festival environments are truly unique to work in, just ask anyone that has done it. It's hard work yes, but you'll enjoy it.
Peppermint Bars is part of Peppermint Events Ltd. set up to provide bar solutions for outdoor events. During the summer the majority of our work is mass-serve bar operations at large outdoor events and festivals, we also manage cocktail bars, temporary cash bars and offer brand management services. Our head office is based in Clapham, London.
What’s it like to work for Peppermint Bars?
Even though we expect plenty of hard work from you, you will also find it fun to work for us. You’ll get to see some of the UK’s best festivals back-stage and meet like-minded people. We’ll look after you while you work for us, with appropriate breaks, fresh food, drink and of course competitive wages!
What events have we done before?
Peppermint ran the bars at a number of events including:
B Live, (London), Bestival (Isle of Wight), Glade Festival (South West), Lovebox Festival (London), Skandia Cowes Week (Isle of Wight), Secret Garden Festival (Cambridge), Kent Music Festival (Kent) and more.
What jobs are available?
PART TIME PAID WORK (WEEKENDS & EVENING)
We directly employ skilled staff "as and when required" for weekend and evening work. (Fri-Sun often 12+ hours per day)
Cocktail Trained Bartender - A high-paced exciting environment mixing cocktails and entertaining the crowds! Most of our staff have varying levels of experience and even though you will be expected to have some experience mixing cocktails - you won't be expected to know every cocktail in the world - just a willingness to learn and get going!
Flair Trained Bartender - Some of our jobs require a big showcase of flairing skills - so we'll get the druggets down and let you do your stuff! As well as your "hand" skills you'll also need to have a good knowledge of the most popular cocktail drinks.
Breakdown Crew - Get your steel toe cap boots out... The perfect job if you fancy getting your hands dirty!
Cellar Manager (draught) - We're looking for people with experience of draught installations either in fixed venues or outdoor events. If you know your 60/40 from your 70/30 - then we want to hear from you!
Bar Till Cashier - We are looking for someone that can multi-task in this environment. Often you'll be pulled in every-direction in this fast paced environment so if you're ready for a challenge, have a bit of experience with tills and a bit of mathematical nouse - then this is the job for you.
Promotional - Sometimes we'll send you out into the crowds for sampling, feedback or just giving away free stuff. So if you've got a big smile and you're a friendly person you're just right for the job.
Door Ticket Sales - You'll be representing our "frontline" so if you're friendly and enjoy meeting new people - tick that box!
Fork Lift Trained - Got a passion for palettes? We're always looking out for people with a plant operator's licence or equivalent to use a telehandler or forklift on site. We are also on the lookout for people with appropriate licences to drive larger vehicles such as 7.5 ton or artic lorries.
Other - If you have other skills that may be useful - don't be shy, however small, list them in the "Other Job Skills" box.
PART-TIME UNPAID WORK (WEEKENDS)
Some festivals offer a free entry ticket, crew camping, plus a free meal and two free drinks per shift in exchange for two (2) volunteer shifts of 6-8 hours each per event. Your responsibilities will change from shift to shift, so you'll never get bored - it's certainly never dull behind a festival bar! A great way to "earn" your free ticket, enjoy the festival, meet new people and gain invaluable bar skills.
Bar Server - Our "frontline" to the public, so as long as you've got character and a smile you've got the job!
Bar Back - One of the most important people behind the bar, because without you - we will run out of drinks! Its not all about moving stock around, we need you to keep an eye on all the consumables behind the bar and make sure we don't run out - that includes replenishing the cups, changing bottles, kegs and keeping the drinks cool with ice.
Build Crew - Help us turn a piece of grass or flooring into a fully functional bar or event, in a matter of hours. You'll learn how its all put together from the ground up - the learning curve will be pretty steep - and by the end of the job, you'll be an expert!
Litter Picker - Tidy and litter-free events space and back of house areas are critical to the success of our events and no-one wants to drink beer or attend an event in an untidy space. It's likely that you'll be rotated from behind the bar or front of house to litter picking and vice versa - so even when your working you'll get to see and hear the event.
Catering Assistant - You'll help us keep all the staff suitably fed and watered over the weekend by assisting our catering managers to serve crew meals 2/3 times a day. For obvious reasons - you'll also become extremely popular!
CONTRACTED PAID WORK (e.g from Jun - Sep, 5 days a week)
We are currently recruiting for contracted work over the summer months and other times during the year. You will effectively be working for us on a "full-time" basis over a pre determined period such as 3 months from June - September.
Occasionally, full time, year-long management jobs with Peppermint become available. Tick your interest and attach your CV and we will contact you when we have a suitable vacancy.
Bar Management - As part of our core-team of bar managers - you'll see everything from build to breakdown. A truely unique, exciting and diverse environment to work in. If you've got plenty of experience behind bars and good people skills, then we're interested in hearing from you.
Stock Management - Experience in this field is key as you'll often need to count and calculate stock quickly in order to project levels for the following day. If you can identify trends and have good forecasting and projecting skills then tick the box. If you can move stock around with an operator's licence that would also help.
Event / Site Management - Peppermint are always on the look out for dedicated, experienced and hard working event managers, mostly for contracted, seasonal work as well as "freelance" staff for events and individual jobs. Please make sure you attach your current CV to the form.
Office Management - Organised? Good with paperwork and numbers? We have a team of staff to run the "back end" of our operation - it's not all pushing pens! We'll need you to liaise with suppliers, event organisers and staff - as well as managing purchase orders, delivery schedules, staff rotas, signage, radio and IT equipment and much more.
Event / Corporate Sales - Occasionally we require sales personnel on a contract basis as part of our sales team for sponsorship procurement and other related sales activities. You could work from your own office or from our head office based in London.
