Plans for Cowes Week 2013 Revealed

Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week is one of UK’s longest running sporting events. The regatta is almost 180 years old, but the set of venues, bars and parties that accompany the race makes it one of the most exciting of UK’s summer sporting events. The event will run from 3rd to 10th August, for the 9th year at the official event site Shepards Wharf Marina, a crew-focussed marina and event space for competitors, friends and family – with some exciting new changes.

The Crew Bar is the best place to unwind after a hard days sailing, with event TV & big screens, outdoor seating, an outdoor beach (!) and of course the large crew bar serving everything from Pimms to local Island ales. This year there will be a “Grassed Garden” on the Pier – where you can relax with a drink overlooking the water. The crew bar is open from midday until 2am every day of the regatta.

Kicking off the week is the Toe in the Water Crew Party on Saturday 3rd August, celebrating its 5th Anniversary and its 3rd and final year as the Official Charity for Cowes Week. The Toe in the Water Party is getting every year bigger, and this year’s activities include: a luxury champagne lounge, hot tubs and a swimming pool, entertainment and games throughout the night, the toe in the water crew bar and some delicious hog roast!

Just confirmed is the revival of the infamous London nightclub Crazy Larry’s coming to Cowes Week for 2013 and years to come. Open every night during the Regatta, Larry will be crazier than ever with themed nights and the official after parties for the Toe in the Water Crew Night and the Mount Gay Rum Red Cap Party. Crazy Larry’s is open from 9pm – 2am and its FREE entry with your competitors pass before 10.30pm (exclusions apply).

New for 2013 Oasis will be serving up some delicious crew food – in the form of breakfasts from 7am (The “Olympic” breakfast is a must to set you up for a days sailing!)  take-away lunch packs for the crews, post-race BBQ’s and hog roasts and a daily changing menu for the evening.

Also on site you’ll find Lewmar, Performance Rigging and a trade village full of marine-focussed trade stands.

The Mount Gay Rum Red Cap Party returns once again for the biggest party in Cowes on Thursday 8th August, tickets are available from the crew bar – the first 500 at the party get the famous Red Cap! The week finale is fireworks night – closing off Aberdeen Asset Management Cowes Week with a bang! There will be bands, music and of course Crazy Larry’s into the early hours.
