Pop Up Bars – Summer Review

by Francesca Baker

When the customer base has an attention span of only 140 characters, rents are rising, and the pub just seems, well too pubby, pop up venues and events are the answer. Popping up all over London (there’s even a website for it now), these are some of our favourites of summer 2013, quirky, exciting, and for a limited time only. Leave comments so we can make also a winter list!

Where else can you drink and dance your night away surrounded by stage sets and scnery from past National Theatre productions whilst overlooking the Thames, St Paul’s, Charing Cross, Embankment and London in all its glory. Full of yummy street food classics, Sipsmith spirits and delicious wines for a proper patchwork summer.

Redemption Bar

No alcohol. Are you kidding me? Lazy, laid back, guilt free evenings, on the roof of Netil House, one of London’s most exciting creative communities,  in Bethnal Green on summer Sundays. Zucchini, Salads, and Cheesecake, as well as delicious mocktails are all made with love, and love your body. The second residency is coming soon to W10.

Wu’s Cruise

Gotta love a bar on a barge, especially when you never know where it might be. Follow their twitter for the latest location, and feast on delicious cocktails once there.

Urban Sessions

Take some old Art Deco baths in Hackney Wick, chuck in ten different bars, and see what happens. With over sixty different draught beers and ciders each week, along with live bands, DJs, food trucks and live brewing, it’s all happening over at these baths.

Dalston Roof Park

Swing’n’chicken, swishing, retro movies and talks. Solar panels, local gardeners, community events, it is a proper urban outdoor oasis. In the coolest part of London, doing the coolest thing, this is one of the original and the best.
