Less than two weeks to go before the start of Secret Garden Party, this year at its 11th edition. Settled in Mill Hill Field, a stunning location in the heart of Cambridgeshire, the festival covers a 220 acre landscaped garden, touching even a river and a lake.
Secret Garden Party is a festival blended with music, art and creativity.
The line-up headliners are Soulwax, Django Django, Bastille and The Strypes; they will be joined by Goldie, Modestep, Mistajam, Shout Out Louds and many others. (Click here for full line-up).
But the party is not (just) about the music! The gardeners (this is how the participants are called) can choose from a variety of activities during the festival, and people of all ages are welcome to participate. Parades, art tents, treasure hunts, open mic stages and participatory games of all sorts animate the festival – you just have to choose which activity suits you best!
From 2010 there is even a kids area, where children are kept entertained with egg hunts, fancy dresses, circus shows, face painting and uncountable kinds of workshops- from jewelry making to karaoke.
To make the atmosphere even more unique, every year the festival is developed around a theme that leads the 4 days of party. This year’s theme is “Superstition”: the gardeners are encouraged to leave the rational world behind and explore the supernatural, irrational and inexplicable rules of broken mirrors, number 13 and black cats.
Several installations and workshops animate the festival: the rule is to get messy and engage, be creative, participate and play together with other gardeners.
