The man behind hits including Superstition, Higher Ground, Living for the City and You Are the Sunshine of My Life will bring the curtain down on Sunday night at the Bestival 2012! The set is a UK festival exclusive. Curator Rob da Bank said the star, who had his first number one aged 13 in 1963, was the most iconic act to have played the event and that securing his appearance had been the result of months of work.
“From Amy Winehouse to The Cure, andthis year, we have had some legendary artists.
“It’s not about trying to set a benchmark, it’s not a matter of trying to make a statement, it’s just that I love Stevie Wonder’s music, and so do a lot of other people and things just came to pass in the right way for us.
“If you had told me six months ago Stevie Wonder was going to be headlining Bestival I would have said ‘get away’, but that’s just the way its worked out.”
Famed for its eclectic line-ups, Rob said this year’s Bestival would be no different… “What can I say? What a day! I see part of my job at Bestival as giving you acts you may never have seen or will get the chance to see again… So I’m hoping you feel as happy as I do as we announce the legendary Stevie Wonder as Sunday night headliner! He’s got 22 albums to pick from, so he won’t be short of material to choose from”
“Stevie will be on after Sigur Ros on the main stage. You will have one of Sigur’s incredible live shows and then we will have a right old knees up with Stevie Wonder.
