Less than two months to go to this summer’s acclaimed World Cup in Brazil!
Kicking off on June 12th, we are all very excited about it – UK and Europe alike are passionate about their football, aren’t they? Well, if you haven’t secured yourself a spot in Brazil yet, it might be too late to try and find tickets now (or ridiculously expensive) so we’ll try and help you with some ideas.
Even festival addicts who have already tickets for Glasto will have to have a plan B – festival organisers have in fact announced that they won’t be screening the World Cup. These the words of an offical spokesman “Should England’s football team qualify from the group stages to the knock out rounds of this summer’s World Cup in Brazil, their match in the Last 16 is scheduled to either take place at 9pm UK time on the Saturday of Glastonbury (if they finish second in their group) or 9pm UK time on the Sunday of Glastonbury (if they win their group). In previous years, we have endeavoured to show England’s matches on big screens where possible (other nations’ matches have not been shown). However, with the potential England matches clashing with the headline sets at this year’s Festival, the decision has been made that – should England qualify from their group – their last 16 match will not be shown at Glastonbury 2014”.
Too bad for the worthy farmers, but if you are not among them, try and check out these places:
The Bavarian Beerhouse in Bristol and London
The German inspired chain will screen some matches on mega screens in both its London and Bristol locations. To show the German-English bonding, both Germany and England games will be shown. Corporate packages are available, with nibbles, table service, Dj entertainment after the match and obviously some good Bavarian beer!
